The China Academy of Sciences (CAS) announced November 28 that they have selected 61 domestic experts and 16 foreign specialists for membership. Hou Zengqian, one of HGU’s alumni, is among the newly selected academicians of the Division of Earth Sciences. Until now, the number of graduates of our university who have been elected to CAS or CAE has reached 3. The other two are Professor Wu Qiang and Professor Mao Jingwen, both are academicians of CAE.
Professor Hou studied in the School of Geology of Hebei GEO University from 1978 to 1982. He has been committed to studies on continental ore-forming and submarine hydrothermal ore-forming. He has also taken charge of and accomplished many national scientific research projects. Besides, he has achieved numerous breakthroughs in his research fields and has gained many significant prizes including the Special and the First Award of National Science and Technology Progress Award and the First Prize in Scientific and Technological Achievements of Land and Resources.
