From March 29thto April 5th, a delegation from HGU, headed by the President Wang Fengming, visited and signed cooperative agreements with institutions including Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Kibbutzim College, Oranim College, Interdisciplinary Center, Shenkar College of Engineering and Design, British University in Egypt and Suez Canal University.

Founded by Albert Einstein and his fellows, the Hebrew University is ranked internationally among the 100 leading universities in the world and first among Israeli universities. In the university, the delegation listened to the introduction of its history, the construction of programs and achievements of research. While the meeting with the deans of School of Humanities and School of Science, the two parties discussed the issues on how to promote the development of interdisciplinary studies and the enthusiasm of researchers. The university has agreed to receive faculties and students of HGU for degree education or short-term academic exchanges, and has accepted our invitation to visit HGU for delivering speech and academic cooperation.
Kibbutzim College is the largest college of education in Israel, with over 6000 students each year in a variety of innovative study programs in the field of education. Pro. Zipora Libman received our delegation and showed us their teaching methods and the students’ innovation achievements. Both parties introduced their characteristics and training modes, and exchanged ideas on students and faculties exchanging.

In Israel, Shenkar College of Engineering and Design (Shenkar College for short) is renowned in the field of art, design and engineering. Pro. Yuli Tamir, president of Shenkar College, met and communicated with our delegation. Learning the strength and achievement of our School of Gemology and School of Art and Design, Pro. Tamir expressed his strong will to conduct further collaboration with us in jewelry design. Dr. Oded Koren, from Shenkar College, introduced their research results in financial big data into which, Li Wenbin, Dean of our School of Information Engineering, had further insight afterwards.

Oranim College is the largest, leading college of education in northern Israel. HGU delegation was received by the dean of the college. During the visit, Wang Fengming elaborated HGU’s characteristics, programs and international collaboration; the dean introduced the history and curriculum of the college. Both sides showed their willingness in effectively promote the exchange and cooperation between the two institutions.

Stick to the concepts of‘freedom and responsibility’, InterDisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC) is an academic institution that changed the face of higher education in Israel. According to the introduction of Pro. Eric Zimmerman, Director of Research and International Academic Relations, though IDC is a newly founded institution, it has already established cooperative relations with many world-leading universities including University of California, Berkeley, Washington University in St. Louis and National University of Singapore; it ranks first in Israel consecutively in a student satisfactory survey in recent years. As the only institution in Israel that English is utilized as the teaching language of every program, IDC now has 6500 current students, and 25% of them are oversea students. It provide more than 60 academic exchange opportunities and programs. After visiting the innovation center and having deeper insight of their mode of innovation and status of employment, Wang Fengming said we should learn from their mode and achievements.

The first university we visited in Egypt was the British University in Egypt (BUE). BUE attached great importance to the collaboration with HGU. The President Ahmed Hamad, together with the Vice-President, the Dean of Faculty of Informatics and Computer Science and the Dean of Faculty of Art and Humanities, welcomed our delegation. Two sides introduced each other their characteristics and achievements. Then, we had further discussion on the issues such as assisting BUE with the establishment of Chinese teaching center,‘1+2+1’ cooperation program, students exchanging project and cooperative research. Officials from Ministry of Education also presented the meeting.
Faculties of Suez Canal University, headed by the President Ghora, meets with HGU delegation.
Suez Canal University is a public comprehensive university with 25 faculties including literature, economics, medicine, computer science, agricultural science, business management, tourism and hotel management. Pro. Mamdouh Moustafa Ghora, president of the university, and several other vice-presidents participated the forum with us. After brief self-introductions, the two universities had a comprehensive communication on the field and project of cooperation. Wang Fengming showed our characteristics in geology, prospecting technology, utilization of water resources and environment, rural and urban planning, gemology and information technology. Suez Canal University expressed their will to cooperate with us in talent training, especially in the field of practical technologies, and the hope that our School of Information Engineering can assist them with their construction of smart campus.
During the short visiting, the delegation was deeply impressed by the seven universities’ clear position and characteristics as well as its distinct training modes. The cooperation and exchange with the seven universities will tremendously boost the internationalization of HGU.
